Mr. Walter Alvin Maybin, 85, entered into rest surrounded by his loving family Monday evening, January 7, 2019, at his home in Walterboro while under the care of Agape Hospice.
Born February 29, 1932, in Hendersonville, North Carolina, he was a son of the late Charlie Levi Maybin and the late Edith Birthell Capps Maybin. He was the founding owner of Walter’s Tree Service, which he diligently operated for fifty years in the greater Atlanta area. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Walterboro.
Surviving are: his wife of twenty years, Mrs. Alice Charpia Padgett Maybin along with her four children, Christopher “Sonny” Padgett and his wife Anne of Smoaks, Gwen Padgett Bunton and her husband Terry of Walterboro, Norma Padgett Hall of Columbia, and Dell Padgett Murdaugh and her husband Michael of Smoaks; nine grandchildren, Russ Padgett and his wife Stephanie, Jamie Bunton and his wife Jenny, Ryan Bunton and his wife Amy, Ian Padgett and his wife Erin, Justin Patrick and his wife Jenna, Kayla Murdaugh and her husband Ian, Kristen Murdaugh, Caroline Patrick, and Keel Murdaugh; eleven great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild . He was also survived by a brother, Glenn Oliver Maybin of Penrose, North Carolina; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 o’clock Thursday morning, January 10, 2019, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The Reverend Steve Crosby officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Baptist Churchyard, 152 Ruffin Road, Walterboro.
