Mrs. Thelma Blume Benton, 88, of Summerville, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018. She was the widow of James Albert Benton, Sr.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock, Wednesday afternoon, July 11, 2018 at The Brice Herndon Funeral Home Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Little Swamp United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Born December 11, 1929 in Smoaks, she was a daughter of the late Joe Stokes Blume and Effie Reddish Blume. She will always be remembered for her love of cooking, but most of all for the love she had for her family.
Surviving are: her children, James A. Benton, Jr. of Round O, Michael Lawrence Benton of Ravenel, and Terry Benton Shores of Summerville; 6 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren with one on the way. She was preceded in death by her brother, Woodrow Blume; and her sisters, Mattie Alexander, Mazie Eagles, Evelyn Carter, Rachel Blume, and Betty Varn.
