Mr. Russell A. Hackney, 86, of Ehrhardt, entered into rest Friday morning, May 18, 2018, at the John Edward Harter Nursing Center in Fairfax. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Martha Ann Dannelly Hackney.
Born in Florida, he was a son of the late Ollie Lee Hackney and the late Charlotte Gignilliant Hackney. He was a mill wright, having owned and operated the Cotton Gin Repair Service in Ehrhardt. He was a member of Saint James United Methodist Church and was a longtime member and icon of the Ehrhardt Hunting Club. He was an avid outdoorsman and will always be remembered for his love of hunting and fishing.
Surviving are: a son, Russell D. Hackney of Ehrhardt; two sisters, Martha Ann Warren of Williams and Barbara Stillings of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; a brother-in-law, Jess B. Dannelly and his wife Wendy; and two grandchildren, Leslie Ann Hackney and Neeley Ann Hackney. He was preceded in death by a son, John Andrew Hackney; and three brothers, Lawrence, Rodney, and Ollie “Trez” Hackney.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon, May 20, 2018, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Ehrhardt. Interment will follow in the Ehrhardt Cemetery.
