Mr. Robert Jacob Crosby, Sr., 79, of Ruffin, entered into rest Thursday afternoon, April 11, 2019, at Saint Francis Hospital in Charleston. He was the husband of the late Margaret Ann Lamb Crosby.
Born February 9, 1940 in Charleston, South Carolina, he was a son Whaley Crosby, Sr. and Helen Rebecca Hiers Crosby Cary. He served in the Untied States Coast Guard and was a longtime logger which was his primary vocation in life prior to him transitioned into his own trucking business. He enjoyed fishing and in his earlier years was formerly a member of the Bass Club. He also loved gardening and was a member of the Walterboro Church of God of Prophecy.
Surviving are: a son, Robert Jacob Crosby, Jr. and his wife Michelle of Chapin; a daughter, Lynn Crosby Smith and her husband Matt of Cottageville; his step-mother, Elizabeth Crosby of Walterboro; step-sister, Carol Shieder; and a step-brother, Billy Crosby. There are seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Whaley Crosby, Jr., Heyward Crosby, and Virgil Crosby and a sister, Mary White.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to either the American Lung Association or to The American Heart Association.
