Mr. Richard Legare Savage, 90, of Adams Run, entered into rest Sunday evening, April 8, 2018, at the Veterans Victory House in Walterboro. Mr. Savage was twice married, first to the late Mrs. Ruby McCutcheon Savage and secondly to the late Mrs. Ruby Droze Savage.
Born May 22, 1927, in the “Tinker Hill” Community of Parkers Ferry, he was a son of the late Richard M. Savage and the late Beulah Mae Garvin Savage. He served our Country faithfully in the United States Merchant Marines during World War II and retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He once served as the Chairman over the local union associated with the shipyard. He was an outdoorsman, avid hunter, and also enjoyed fishing.
Surviving are: his children, Delores S. McMillan of Summerville, Elaine S. Raby and her husband Bill of Eatonton, Georgia, Toni S. Infinger and her husband Victor of St. George, and Tonya Savage of Adams Run; a brother, Robert A. Savage and his wife Burnette of Round O; a sister, Carol S. Cannon and her husband Kenneth of Charleston; and a sister-in-law, Linda Savage of Adams Run. There are twelve grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren that also survive. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Wayne Savage; two brothers, Richard M. Savage, Jr. and Clyde A. Savage; and two sisters, Juanita S. Craine and Betty S. Gravette.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, April 11, 2018, from Adams Run Baptist Church, 8113 Highway 162, Hollywood. Interment will follow in the Adams Run Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends during at time of visitation prior to the funeral ceremony beginning at 12 noon in the church sanctuary.
