Mr. Melvin Lee “Newtise” Kemmerlin, age 85, of Ridgeville, entered into rest Tuesday morning, October 17, 2017, at the Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Virginia Ruth Hill Kemmerlin.
Funeral services with Military Honors will be conducted 2 o’clock Friday afternoon, October 20, 2017, from the graveside at Cummings Chapel Cemetery, Ridgeville.
Born November 1, 1931, in Ridgeville, he was a son of the late Fred S. Kemmerlin and the late Edith Leola Dantzler Kemmerlin. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and was a retired Tobacco Farmer. He was a member of the Eutawville Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and dearly loved fishing.
Surviving are: four sons, Louie Kemmerlin, Ronnie Wayne Kemmerlin, Donnie Kemmerlin and his wife Pam all of Ridgeville, and James Kemmerlin and his wife Ida of Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Caitlin Kemmerlin. Ronald Kemmerlin, Jr., Ryan Kemmerlin (Brittany), Jeremy Benton (Holley), James Kemmerlin, Jr. (Stephanie), Alex Kemmerlin (Kat), Alicia Kemmerlin; and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Kemmerlin; and two sisters, Edith Felder and Janie Mae Carter.
