Master Sergeant William Frederick Hiott, Sr., United States Air Force (Ret.), affectionately known by all as “Bill”, age 76, of Walterboro, entered into rest Friday afternoon, May 3, 2019.
Born January 7, 1943, in Walterboro, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Joel M. Hiott and the late Gertrude Salisbury Hiott. He served our country faithfully in the United States Air Force, having retired as a Master Sergeant and serving during the Vietnam Era. He was a farmer and lifelong member of Doctor’s Creek Baptist Church. He was a member of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a true supporter of the Boy Scouts and was once honored to ride on their float during a Veteran’s Day Parade. Bill enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was the husband for fifty-six years to Mrs. Shirley A. Hiott.
Surviving are: a daughter, Audrea Hiott Colson and her husband Blaine of Walterboro and their children and Bill’s grandchildren, Rodney Blaine Colson, Jr. (Morgan) and Jacob Andrew Colson (Veronica) as well as seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is survived by his two brothers, Joel D. Hiott (Brenda) of North Carolina and Sam Hiott of Walterboro; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to: Boy Scouts of American, Troup 686, 253 Alisin Lane, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 o’clock Tuesday morning, May 7, 2019, from Doctor’s Creek Baptist Church, 124 Doctor’s Creek Road, Walterboro. Interment with full military honors will follow in the churchyard.
The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service beginning at 10 o’clock that morning in the church sanctuary.
