Mary Jones Kirkland

Mrs. Mary “Etta” Henrietta Jones Kirkland, of Hendersonville, age 81, wife of the late Kenneth Kirkland, went to be with her Lord Tuesday morning, June 25, 2019, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.  

Etta was born on May 11, 1938, in Yemassee, SC. She is the daughter of Thomas Addison Jones, Sr., and Dora Henrietta Myers. She and Kenneth were happily married for over 46 years. He preceded her in death on August 28, 2011. 

Mary Kirkland, fondly known as “Etta” to many, will be greatly missed. Etta loved her family and friends unconditionally. She was a faithful member of Hendersonville Baptist Church for more than 40 years, where she also the pianist for many years. Etta had a heart for helping others in the community; frequently volunteering at nursing homes and community centers. She also had a passion for photography and capturing life’s special moments. Her fun-loving personality and quirky sense of humor will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Surviving are: a great nephew, Dillan Jones of Walterboro; a son, Chris Ferrand; a brother, Thomas Jones, Jr.; and two grandchildren, Ashley and Chris Ferrand. 

A celebration of her life will be held 11 o’clock Saturday morning, July 6, 2019, in Hendersonville Baptist Church, 893 Bachelo Hill Road, Walterboro.  The Reverend Doug Tuten and The Reverend Gerald Mabry officiating.
