Mrs. Mary Carolyn Gentry Litchfield, 88, of Walterboro, passed away Wednesday morning, December 11, 2019 at her sons’ residence in Walterboro. She was the wife of the late Sergeant Benjamin Franklin Litchfield, Sr. (United States Army, Ret).
Born September 18, 1931 in Walterboro, she was a daughter of the late Homer Franklin Gentry, Sr. and Hazel Guilford Gentry. She worked for many years as a seamstress in Smoaks as well as Dayco and Sealcraft. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was loved by many who knew her.
Surviving are: her children, Timothy L. Litchfield (Rebecca) of Walterboro, Edwin W. Litchfield (Dianne) of Walterboro, and Daniel B. Litchfield (Lynne) of Brunson; brother, George Gentry of Edisto Island; 3 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by two sons, Benjamin F. Litchfield and infant son, Thomas Andrew Litchfield; and two brothers, Paul Gentry and Frank “Busby” Gentry.
Funeral services will be held at 3 o’clock, Friday afternoon, December 13, 2019 at The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Live Oak Cemetery.
