Mrs. Margie Ackerman Lyons, 78, of Walterboro, entered into rest Monday evening, June 11, 2018, at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg. She was the wife of the late Mr. Emory Lyons.
Born November 18, 1939, in Cottageville, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late John Clemon Ackerman and the late Mary Ellen Martin Ackerman Thompson. She was a retired restaurant manager having worked throughout the Lowcountry of South Carolina, but her most notable place was the Hardees in Bamberg. She loved the Lord with all of her heart and was an Evangelist minister. She loved people and dearly loved her family, always centering her life around her children and grandchildren. She truly enjoyed reading the Bible.
Surviving are: a son, Cleo Pete Norris, Jr. of Walterboro; two daughters, Rose Mary Henry of Rowesville and Patricia Ann Caudillo of Walterboro; two sisters, Mary Louise Craven of Walterboro and Theresa Dell Szeker of Waycross, Georgia; five grandchildren, Michael Frye, Joseph Creel, Steve Creel, Madison Lyons, and Hallie Lyons; and nine great grandchildren. She was “Mama” to many other children and is also survived by an extended family to include many step children, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, John Troy Ackerman, John Randall Thompson, Jr., and James Andrew Thompson.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 o’clock Saturday morning, June 16, 2018, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in The Ackerman Cemetery at Red Oak, Red Oak Road, Cottageville.
