Kenneth Richard "Ricky" Herndon, Sr.

Mr. Kenneth Richard Herndon, Sr., affectionately known by all as “Ricky”, age 59, entered into rest surrounded by his loving family early Monday morning, April 3, 2017, at his home in Walterboro while under the care of Amedisys Hospice.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 o’clock Thursday morning, April 6, 2017, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  The Reverend Ricky Crosby officiating.  Interment will follow in Peniel Baptist Churchyard, 37 Forks Road, Islandton. 

Born February 11, 1958, in Colleton County, South Carolina, he was a son of Mrs. Syble Wethington Benton and the late Herbert Herndon.    Ricky dedicated his life to helping others, having been a paramedic and retiring from the Colleton County Emergency Medical Services.   He was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church in Walterboro.   Outside of his family, his greatest love, one of which he possessed from the age of 13 was for the Miami Dolphins.   He also was an avid fisherman. 

Surviving in addition to his mother of Ruffin are:  his wife of thirty-six years, Mrs. Sonya Long Herndon; a daughter, Heather Herndon DeLong and her husband Charlie of Smoaks; two sons, Kenny Herndon and his wife Leslie of Bluffton and Anthony Stone and his wife Anna of Tega Cay; a brother, Johnny Herndon and his wife Linda of Islandton; a sister, Patricia Herndon of Islandton;  a step-Brother, Terry Benton and his wife Toni of North Augusta; and five grandchildren, Kennedy Rizer, Marlie Needham , Laker Herndon, Hayden Stone, and Dylan Stone.
