Jo Ann Long

Mrs. Jo Ann Thompson Long, 75, entered into rest Tuesday afternoon, September 4, 2018, at her home in Walterboro.

Born April 12, 1943, in Colleton County, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Hughes Thompson and the late Linnie Bessinger Thompson.   A member of Great Swamp Baptist Church, she loved animals and going to the beach.  She will always be remembered for the love she possessed for her family and for always being a special friend to many. 

Surviving are: two sons, Bud Long and his wife Mary Ann of Walterboro and Billy Long and his wife Caroline of Walterboro; a daughter, Christi Amick and her husband Anthony of Snow Camp, North Carolina; a brother, Buddy Thompson and his wife Carolyn of Walterboro; and a sister, June Barnhart and her husband Dean of Hunters, Washington.  There are five grandchildren, Megan Long, Keera Stafford, Gregory Long, Kyleigh Amick, and Aidan Amick; two great grandchildren, Bryleigh Bishop and Austin Hickman; as well as a special cousin, Rita Addison and her husband Jerome of Summerville.

A memorial service will conducted 1 o’clock Monday afternoon, September 10, 2018 from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.   The family will receive friends before and following the funeral ceremony. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to The Breast Cancer Society or to Amedysis Hospice.
