Mrs. Jessie Mae Jones Tuten, 87, of Hampton, passed away Monday, May 7, 2018 at Pruitt Healthcare in Walterboro. She was the widow of Jesse William Tuten.
Funeral services will be held 11 o’clock, Saturday morning, May 12, 2018 at The Brice Herndon Funeral Home, Varnville-Hampton Chapel. Interment will follow in Hampton Cemetery.
Born May 9, 1930 in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Lonnie V. Jones and Earline Brown Jones. She worked in sewing rooms all her life until she and her husband opened Tuten’s Carry-All in Hampton. She was a member of West End Baptist Church. She enjoyed tending to her flowers but most of all, she loved her children and grandchildren and put them ahead of anything else.
Surviving are: her children, Jesse W. Tuten and his wife Brenda of St. Mary’s, Georgia, Barbara T. Smith and her husband Reese of Hampton, Jeanette “Midge” Tuten of Hampton, and Joyce Smith of Hampton; sisters, Agie Mills and her husband Felton of Durham, North Carolina and Dorene Worth of Sumter; brother, Malcom “Pee Wee” Jones of Sumter; grandchildren, Lynn Littleton and her husband Tim, Nicole Douglas and her husband Dustin, Dottie Webber and her husband Kevin, Tonya Garick and her husband Taylor, and Bryan Fox and his wife Stephanie; great grandchildren, Reagan, Hannah, Emily Reece, Jake, Henley Grae, Presley Glen, Kayla Lynn, Clayton, Abbie, Jesse, Mae Elisabeth, Addison, Ren, Paislei, and William; and numerous nieces and nephews.
