Mr. Jesse Duboise Brabham, Jr., 93, of Lodge, entered into rest Wednesday morning, June 12, 2019, at The Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He was the loving husband of thirty-four years at the time of her death in 2011 to the late Mrs. Senie Ann Crosby Brabham.
Born December 22, 1925, in Colleton County, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Jesse Duboise Brabham, Sr. and the late Laura Mae Ulmer Brabham. Jesse was the founding owner of the iconic and largely known Grocery Corner in Lodge which is today known as Mr. Jesse’s – having recently been reopened and named in his honor. He was a favorite among the locals and well beloved by a community he dearly loved. He was a longtime member of Lodge United Methodist Church, where he had previously served on the Nominations Committee as well as many other various committees in the church. He was the oldest member and a Past Master of Hope Masonic Lodge No. 122 – Ancient Free Masons in Lodge where he had received his seventy-five year membership pin.
Surviving are: three daughters, Phyllis Williams of Walterboro, Terrie Seigler of Lodge, and Melinda Araneo of Walterboro; a sister, Doris Benton of Walterboro; fourteen grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Hawkins; a daughter, Sandra Wright, a great grandson, Bryson Araneo; and a sister, Jennie Rae Fender.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 o’clock Friday afternoon, June 14, 2019, from Lodge United Methodist Church, Highway 64, Lodge. The Reverend Chris King officiating. Interment with Masonic Rites will follow in the churchyard.
