Hiram McAlhaney

Mr. Hiram Quillie McAlhaney, 73, of Early Branch, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Aiken Regional Medical Center.

Born November 4, 1945 in Varnville, he was the son of the late Quillie McAlhaney and Dorothy DeLoach McAlhaney. He retired as a supervisor form Nevamar where he had worked for 42 years.  He ran the Hampton County Farmers Market after his retirement from Nevamar.  He served his country in the South Carolina Army National Guard.

Mr. McAlhaney was a member of Grace Baptist Church and in his younger years worked with the youth and coached the youth softball team from many years.  He enjoyed deer and quail hunting; raised birds and especially loved his peacocks.  He also enjoyed gardening.

Surviving are: his wife of 52 years, Christine Zahler McAlhaney; children, Greg McAlhaney and his wife Suzanne of Gilbert and Sandy McAlhaney Thompson and her fiancé Bill Crosby of Brunson; grandchildren, Tori Thompson, Tristan Thompson, AnaBeth Thompson; brother, Perry McAlhaney of Varnville; and sister, Marsha Stanley of Varnville.

Funeral services will be held at 3 o’clock, Thursday afternoon, January 10, 2019 at Grace Baptist Church.  Interment will follow in Zahler Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends during of a time of visitation Thursday afternoon from 1 until 3 at the church.
