Mrs. Gertrude Carson Breland, 84, of Ruffin, entered into rest Friday morning, November 3, 2017, at her daughter’s home in Lodge. She was the wife of the late Mr. Clarence Kearse Breland.
Funeral services will be conducted 4:30pm Sunday afternoon, November 5, 2017, from the graveside in Bethel United Methodist Churchyard, 16147 Lowcountry Highway, Ruffin.
Born May 15, 1933, in Ridgeland, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Harvey Carson, Sr. and the late Dorothy Carson O’Quinn. Mrs. Gertrude was a loving mother and grandmother who lived a very quiet and reserved life. She was a great southern cook and enjoyed gardening, flowers, and sewing.
Surviving are: her children, Dale Breland of Ruffin, Rodney Breland and his wife Elizabeth “Betty” of Ruffin, and Sharon Fender and her husband Dennis of Lodge; two brothers, Harvey Carson and Beryl Carson; and two sisters, Thelma Vogue and Dorothy Mae Owens. There are four grandchildren, Stephanie Breland, Roger Breland and his wife Kristina, Christel Breland, and Hope Breland; and six great grandchildren, Kaylen, Logan, Alex, Bryan, Dylan, and Riddick. She was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Allen Breland; a set of twin children; and a daughter-in-law, Diane Breland.
