Gene is greatly missed from the neighborhood. His daily walks and vigil with his trusting companion was a welcome sight. It seemed that we could go ahead and start the activities of the day once we saw them strolling by. More often than not, we'd exchange a greeting and a few (or maybe not so few) words.
During one of my granddaughter's visits, her bike needed a minor repair before she could ride it. Mack was still at work, and all my granddaughter could think about was that she was losing valuable riding time. I thought about my neighbor Gene, went to his home, and he was so glad we had come. He fixed it right away and even checked periodically to see that it remained fixed. That's the kind of man, neighbor, friend he was.

I will miss you at Cracker Barrel, but now you are being food from the best place ever and with the best of friends with no pain. My condolences go out to Rick and the rest of your family. You will be missed but now you are whole
