Faye Mixson Lyons

Mrs. Faye Mixson Lyons, 95, entered into rest Thursday morning, August 9, 2018, at her home in Ruffin surrounded by her loving family.  She was the loving wife of forty-four years to the late Mr. Floyd Osborn Lyons.  

Born January 29, 1923, in Berkeley County, South Carolina she was a daughter of the late Charles Mixson and the late Belle Hood Mixson.  Faye was a lifelong seamstress, having over the years done alterations for countless folks and always being admired for her precision and perfection.   She was a longtime employee and familiar icon at Ivanhoe Dress Shop in Walterboro.   She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church No. 1 in Walterboro where she was over the church’s nursery for over twenty-five years.   Quilting was her greatest passion in life along with cutting her grass and tending to her garden.  

Surviving are: her daughter, Doris Smoak Nettles of Ruffin; a brother, James Mixson of Berkeley County; two grandchildren, Kathy Nettles of Ruffin and Carlotte Jackson and her husband David of Walterboro; six great grandchildren, Allen Preveaux (Leslie), Steven Preveaux (Courtney), Joshua Barnes, Rebekah Barnes, Nicholas Jackson, and Haley Jackson; and four great great grandchildren, Emma Preveaux, Natalie Preveaux, Jaxson Preveaux, and Naomi Kristina Costa.  She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Carroll Nettles; and a granddaughter, Lynn Preveaux and her husband Kevin. 

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in her memory to:  Shiloh Baptist Church for the Janie Chapman State Missions Fund, 10565 Lowcountry Highway, Ruffin, South Carolina 29475.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 o’clock Saturday morning, August 11, 2018, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  The Reverend Ricky Crosby officiating.  Interment will follow in Pine Grove Baptist Church No. 1 Cemetery, 99 Pine Grove Road, Walterboro.
