Ellis Avant

Mr. Ralph Ellis Avant, Jr., 68, of Walterboro, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018 at his residence.

A memorial service will be held at 6 o’clock, Tuesday evening, June 26, 2018 at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  The family will receive friends following the service.

Born August 30, 1949 in Colleton County, he was the son of the late Ralph Ellis Avant, Sr. and Annie Louise Crapse Avant.  He was the retired owner and operator of Avant’s Automotive.  He enjoyed fishing and loved working with his son building cars. Ellis devoted his life to his family that he dearly loved, and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are: his wife, Kaye Franklin Avant of Walterboro; children, Dee Avant Stone and her husband Scott of Walterboro, and John Avant and his wife Angie of Walterboro; and grandchildren, Chase King, Cole King, and Hanna Avant.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Ethel Ann Kinsey.
