Mr. Douglas Eugene Polk, 69, of Hanahan, passed away Saturday evening, December 8, 2018 at his residence.
Born July 8, 1949 in Walterboro, he was a son of the late Burchill Coker Polk and Edith Gertrude Polk. For many years he was an iron worker superintendent and was currently serving as a safety supervisor for Reeder Industrial Contractors in Hanahan. He was a member of Rice Patch Christian Church. He was a member of the Iron Worker’s Union No. 601. He enjoyed camping and spending time with his family.
Surviving are: his wife of 37 years, Brenda Nicholson Polk of Hanahan; sons, James W. “Billy” Atchison (Pamela Caldwell) of Ladson, Brian T. Atchison of Goose Creek, and Bradley A. Atchison of Goose Creek; grandson, Brayden W. Atchison; brothers, Gerald Polk of Charleston and James Polk of Charleston; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles L. Polk.
Funeral services will be held at 3 pm, Friday, December 14, 2018 at The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The family will receive friends following the service.
