Charles "Bubba" Odom

Mr. Charles L. Odom, affectionately known by “Bubba”, 69, of Joe Miley Road in Brunson, entered into rest Sunday evening, November 17, 2019, at the Beaufort Memorial Hospital. 

Born November 26, 1949 in Orangeburg, South Carolina he was a son of the late Jacqueline Tharpe Jordan (James) and E. A. Odom.   Charles served as an Infantry Combat Soldier with the United States  Army during Vietnam Era from March 1969 to April 1970.  Bubba completed the  Kenneth Shullar Barber College in 1972 as a licensed Barber/Instructor and held a Business Administration Degree from TLC.  He established the ClippJoint and The Cutting Room in both Hampton and Beaufort and retired from this near thirty year career with Master Barbers in Hampton, SC.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Varnville and Stafford Masonic Lodge 216.

Surviving are: his loving wife of fifty-two years, Mrs. Linda Donehue Odom;  his son, Charles (Chuck) Odom, II and his wife Sheila; three brothers, David Odom and his wife Arnie of Orangeburg, Lyn Odom and his wife Sue of Columbia, Michael Odom and his wife Crystal of Orangeburg;  two grandchildren, Mallorie Odom Lee and Charles (Chase) Odom, III (Madison);  three great grandchildren, Olivia, Ellis Joan, and Charles (Cullen) L. Odom, IV; a nephew, Robin Rodgers; and  many great nieces and nephews and cousins.  Bubba was predeceased by his daughter, Courtney Leigh Odom, and his sister Joyce Rodgers.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 o’clock Thursday morning, November 21, 2019, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral  Chapel,  Varnville.  The Reverend Dr. Thomas Kelly and The Reverend Scotty Rhedd officiating.  Interment will follow in Varnville Cemetery on Pine Street in Varnville.
