Mr. Carl Eugene Craven, Sr., 71, of Green Pond, entered into eternal rest Friday afternoon, September 22, 2017, at the Trident Medical Center in North Charleston.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 o’clock Saturday afternoon, September 30, 2017, from Academy Road Baptist Church, 304 Academy Road, Walterboro. The Reverend James Dukes officiating.
Born April 22, 1946, in Colleton County, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Eugene Craven and the late Inez Evans Craven. He was a retired Iron construction worker. He was a member of Academy Road Baptist Church in Walterboro, where he was active in the church’s life and ministry and always took great pride in inviting others to worship with him. He was a country boy at heart. He loved horses and truly loved hunting, especially hog hunting. He also possessed a great passion for his garden. His family was the dearest to his heart and he was always the center of his family’s life.
Surviving are his wife of forty-two years, Mrs. Jackie Craven; three children, Carl E. Craven, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Walterboro, Carrie Craven of Green Pond, and Jody Craven of Green Pond; two brothers, Jackie David Craven, Sr. of Walterboro and Bobby Craven of Walterboro; and a sister, Frances Steiner of Branchville. There are three grandchildren, Danielle Craven (Max Mitchell), Aaron Lane Craven (Shelby Kincaid), and Richard Clayton Padgett; as well as two dear friends, Harold Robertson and Johnny White; and an aunt, Sallie Craven; that also survive along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death in 1992 by a son, Rowdy Sam Craven; three sisters, Christine Bryan, Betty Parrish, and Peggy Bailey; a nephew, Jackie David Craven, Jr.; and two nieces, Dawn Priester and Kimberly Lowery.
