Mr. Burley “Neal” Cornelius Crosby, Jr., 61, of Round O, South Carolina, entered into rest Thursday, November 28, 2019 at the Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Charleston.
Born June 14th, 1958 in Charleston, South Carolina, he was a son to the late Burley Cornelius Crosby, Sr. and Katherine Murdaugh Crosby.
Mr. Crosby or also known as the “Grey Ghost” driver was an avid deer hunter and cowboy. He was a NASCAR enthusiast, having the opportunity to meet the drivers, Richard Childress and Jeff Burton. Burley grew up an outdoorsman loving to ride horses and anything to do with rodeos. Throughout many years he has won numerous awards in the “Backyard Rodeo”. He worked for many heavy duty trucking companies over the course of his career. Mr. Crosby was best known by his family as a kind hearted man who always helped others.
Surviving are his wife whom he married on October 3rd, 2003, Alice Marie Crosby of North Charleston; sisters, Laura Ahl (John) of Ruffin, SC, Kate C. Thompson of North Charleston and Joyce West (Michael) of Cottageville, SC. He was also survived by his close and dear friends who stayed by his side, Janice Holmes and Michael Floyd. He is predeceased by a brother-in-law Ronnie Thompson.
A memorial service will be conducted 3 o’clock, Friday afternoon, December 6, 2019 from the Walterboro Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1035 Dandridge Road, Walterboro. The family will receive friends following the service.
