Mr. Bruce Wilson Robertson, 86, of Johns Island, entered into eternal rest Monday, March 12, 2018 at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Born September 20, 1931 in Charleston, he was a son of the late Walter Davant Robertson and Dorothy Knight Robertson. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from the Ralph H. Johnson Veteran’s Administration Medical Center as a Maintenance and Operation Foreman. He was a member of Christ-St. Paul’s Church and was also a member of the French Huguenot Society of Charleston. Mr. Bruce loved his home on the Stono River, part of the Intercoastal Waterway, and his life was being on the water. He was a master carpenter and wood craftsman and was very skillful at building sail and race boats. He was known for building and designing the world record breaking “Wild Geechee” race boat.
Surviving are: his wife of 66 years, Frances Fleming Robertson, known to everyone as “Mickey”; children, Bruce Wilson Robertson, Jr. of Johns Island, and Sheri Robertson Boineau and her husband John of Meggett; sister, Katherine Robertson Romanosky of Charleston; grandchildren, J. Fleming Boineau of Johns Island and Caroline Boineau Lacey of Meggett; and great grandchildren, Cody, Logan, Hannah, Taylor and Remi. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Walter D. Robertson, Jr. and Miles P. Robertson.
The Relatives and Friends of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Wilson Robertson, are invited to attend the Funeral Litany and Celebration of the Holy Eucharist of the former at 11 o’clock Thursday morning, March 15, 2018, from Christ-St. Paul’s Church, 4981 Chapel Road, Yonges Island. Fr. Craige Borrett, officiant. The Rite of Committal will follow in Old Saint Andrew’s Parish Churchyard, 2604 Ashley River Road, Charleston.
Family and friends are invited to call during a time of visitation this Wednesday evening from 5 o’clock until 7 o’clock at J. Henry Stuhr West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, Charleston.
