Mr. Benjamin Anthony Malphrus, affectionately known by “Benjie”, 57, of North Grays, entered into rest Friday, January 10, 2020 at his residence.
Born December 2, 1962 in Ridgeland, South Carolina, he was a son of Mrs. Joyce Tuten Malphrus and the late Jake Malphrus. He graduated from Wade Hampton High School in 1981 and in 1985 began working at Scotsman Ice Systems in Fairfax where he worked for thirty-four years. He was a great dad to his son and was blessed with a beautiful granddaughter whom he loved with all his heart. He enjoyed bass fishing, building things out of wood and working in his work shed in the summer time and spending time with his family. Benjie was known for his storytelling and acting it out; always ready to make someone laugh. He also loved the Lord. He will be deeply missed. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Hampton.
Surviving are: his loving wife of thirty-one years, Mrs. Angie Moore Malphrus; his son, Scott Malphrus and his wife Abbigale of Guyton, Georgia; and one granddaughter, Aubrey Malphrus. He is also survived by his aunt, Christina Tuten Mims of Hampton, who loved him dearly; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Sandra Moore of Gillisonville; and his father-in-law, James Moore and his wife Merilee of Beaufort; brothers-in-law, Ronnie Malphrus (Tammy), Gary Moore (Tracy), Shannon Moore (Ginger) Rob Moore (Ginger) and Rob Mizell (Nickie). There are also three nieces, six nephews and one great niece and one great nephew as well as other aunts, Nancy Rivera of Ridgeland; and uncles, Freddie Malphrus (Myra) of Ridgeland and Eddie Malphrus (Cynthia) of Columbia and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Jake Malphrus and a brother, Glenn Malphrus.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 o’clock Thursday morning, January 16th, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Varnville. The Reverend Tripp Dailey and The Reverend Ronnie Wilcox officiating. Interment will follow in Smith Cemetery.
