Mrs. Alice Sanders Murdaugh, 81, of Islandton, entered into rest Saturday morning, August 25, 2018, at the Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. She was the widow of Mr. Charles H. Murdaugh.
Born May 7, 1937, in Walterboro, she was a daughter of the late James E. Sanders and the late Lucille Bennett Sanders. She was a member of Rice Patch Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Islandton where she was active with the Christian Women’s Fellowship.
Surviving are: a granddaughter, Allison Spriggs; a great granddaughter, Selena Baltist; and two brothers, Laurie Sanders (Sjannah) of Edisto Island and Sammie Sanders of Walterboro; numerous nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Nancy S. Drawdy. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia M. Paolelo; two brothers, James E. Sanders, Jr. and Earl B. Sanders; five sisters, Florence Hasty, Shirlie Lakes, Jackie Shaffer, Doris Thompson, and Eleanor Bishop;
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in her memory to: Rice Patch Christian Church, care of Mr. Lavern Polk, 1865 Ashton Road, Islandton, South Carolina 29929.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 o’clock Tuesday morning, August 28, 2018, from the graveside in Peniel Baptist Churchyard, 37 Forks Road, Islandton.
