Mr. Charles Reese Smith, 71, of Hampton, entered into rest Friday, June 11, 2021 at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
Born November 17, 1949 in Hampton, he was a son of the late Pious Reese Smith and Viola Wooten Smith. He served his country in the United States Navy. Mr. Reese retired from Westinghouse/Nevamar where he worked for many years as a saw operator. After retirement he went to work for Wall Timber and was a farmer. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, and work in his garden. More than anything, he loved his family and friends and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are: his wife of 42 years, Barbara “Bitsy” Tuten Smith of Hampton; children, Bradley Reese Smith of North Carolina, Lynn Littleton and her husband Tim of North Augusta, Eric Christopher Smith and his wife Kelly of Maggie Valley, North Carolina, Elizabeth Nicole Douglas and her husband Dustin of Islandton, Dottie Smith Webber and her husband Kevin of Orangeburg, and Tonya Garick and her husband Taylor of Orangeburg; grandchildren, Emily Reece Wall, Jake Wall, Henley Grae Douglas, Presley Glen Douglas, Hannah Littleton, Reagan Littleton, Landon Smith, Kayla DeLoach, Clayton DeLoach, Abbie DeLoach, Jessie Webber, Mae Elisabeth Bailey, Addison Garick, and Ren Garick; one great grandchild, Zain, and one on the way, Harrison Grant; brother, Mac Smith of Hampton; sisters, Gladys Miller of Aiken, Carolyn Cook of Cummings, Betty Cook and her husband Donnie of Hampton, and Nina Gray and her husband Ronnie of Hampton; sister-in-law, Jewell Smith of Hampton; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jesse David Smith and Byrnes Smith.
Funeral services will be held 5 o’clock, Tuesday evening, June 15, 2021, at The Brice Herndon Funeral Home, Varnville-Hampton Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service.
