Mrs. Elsie Crapse Richardson, 83, of Estill, entered into eternal rest Tuesday morning, October 6, 2020 at her residence. She was the widow of John Laurie “Jack” Richardson, to whom she was married for 52 years.
Born December 5, 1936 in Hampton County, she was a daughter of the late Sidney Nathaniel Crapse and Dora McAlhaney Crapse. She retired from Estill Elementary School where she had worked for 22 years. After she and her late husband retired, they worked together for Ulmer Feed and Seed in Estill.
Mrs. Elsie was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church where she was the church pianist and organist for many years. She loved playing music, loved to read and working in her yard. She dearly loved all of the children she taught over the years and always kept up with what they were doing even after they finished school. Most of all, she loved her family and centered her life around them.
She is survived by her family, Sheila “Sissy” Floyd of Estill, Denise “Neise” Huffman (Larry) of Estill, Wayne Ball (Judy) of Lexington, Christopher Kent Mixson (Ashley) of Estill, and Hannah Mixson of Estill. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Sidney “Bubba” Rivers; a brother, Myron Crapse; and a sister, Christine Rosier.
The family would like to especially thank the staff of Amedysis Hospice for the love and care given to Mrs. Elsie during her illness.
