Billy Murdaugh

Mr. William Donald Murdaugh, known to everyone as “Billy”, 59, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Friday morning, June 11, 2021 at his residence.

Born January 29, 1962 in Walterboro, he was a son of the late Donald Olin Murdaugh and Lucille Moore Murdaugh.  Billy was a lifetime resident of Colleton County where he attended Walterboro High School and was a member of Doctors Creek Baptist Church.  He was an avid “Carolina Gamecocks” fan.  He enjoyed football, bowling, golfing and fishing; as well as his annual trips to Myrtle Beach with his best friends.  Billy loved his family dearly and his grandchildren were the apples of his eyes.  He was a loving father, PawPaw, brother and friend.

Surviving are: his children, William D. “Wil” Murdaugh, Jr. of Greenville, Wesley O. Murdaugh of Hampton, and Abigail P. Murdaugh of Walterboro; the mother of his children, Frances B. Murdaugh of Walterboro; granddaughters, Emily Murdaugh and her mother, Ashley Murdaugh of Spartanburg, and Alice Murdaugh and her mother Kelly Rae of Walterboro; sister, Jolene Bell (Bobby Fuller) of Walterboro; best friends, Eli and Holly Osborne of Walterboro and Grant and Tina Rollins of Summerville; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins that he loved dearly.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Jessie Moore and Olin and Reba Murdaugh.

The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice and especially their nurses, Heather, Taylor and Jim, for the loving care they gave Billy.

Graveside funeral services will be held 4 o’clock, Thursday afternoon, June 17, 2021 at Doctors Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 126 Doctors Creek Road, Walterboro.
