Nesbit Hoyt Chassereau, Sr.

Mr. Nesbit Hoyt Chassereau, Sr., 77, of Varnville, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2019 at his residence.  He was the husband of the late Patricia Ann Harrelson Chassereau.

Born March 4, 1941 in Jasper County, he was a son of the late Canie Cummings Chassereau and Tinnie Smith Chassereau.  He was a retired maintenance director from Pruitt Health Nursing Home in Estill and had worked for many years at Westinghouse.  He loved huntng, fishing, and especially working in his garden.

Surviving are; his sons, Ned Chassereau, Patrick Chassereau, and Charles Chassereau, all of Varnville; brothers, Rufus Chassereau of Estill, Harold Chassereau of Dayton, Ohio and Eugune Chassereau of Dayton, Ohio; sisters, Ruby Avant of Brunson, Edna Hull of West Columbia, Daisy Breland of Varnville, and Maudie Harvey of Beaufort; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Oregon Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, February 16, 2019 at The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapel, Varnville.  Interment will follow in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery, 6404 Hopewell Road, Hampton.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to: The American Cancer Society.
