Mrs. Annette Riggs Smith, 76, of Varnville, entered into eternal rest Friday afternoon, March 15, 2024, at her residence.
Born December 7, 1947, in Fort Pierce, Florida, she was a daughter of the late Roy Riggs and Eddie Ruth King Brunner. She was a seamstress for many years in Allendale and Hampton and retired from Silver Star Trailers in Ridgeland. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church for many years. She loved shopping, enjoyed fishing and especially loved sitting on her back proch watching her hummingbirds. She also enjoyed swimming, going out on the pontoon boat, camping, and traveling anywhere she could. Most of all, she dearly loved her family and her church.
Surviving are: her husband, Elliott Lee Smith of Varnville; children, Michael Ayer and his wife Becky of Varnville, Tammy Ayer (Dale Fennell) of Hampton, and Stephanie Mador and her husband Frankie of Varnville; sister, Robin Brunner of Ulmer; grandchildren, Travis Ayer and his wife Kayla, Christine Ayer (Chad Stanley), Everett Rennow and his wife Angelica, Echo Sullivan, Megan Mesters and her husband Chris, and Tad Rutland and his wife Maggie; and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2 o’clock, Monday afternoon, March 18, 2024, at The Brice Herndon Funeral Home, Varnville-Hampton Chapel. Interment will follow in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery, 6404 Hopewell Road, Hampton.
