Welcome to the memorial page for

William Edward Lister

October 2, 1944 ~ October 18, 2016 (age 72) 72 Years Old

Mr. William (Bill) Edward Lister, age 72, of Titusville, Florida, entered into eternal rest Tuesday evening, October 18, 2016, while in Walterboro, South Carolina.

Born October 2, 1944 in Topeka, Kansas, he was a son of the late Dwight William Lister and the late Ceola Juanita Wheeler Lister.  He served our country faithfully as a medical corpsman in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era.   He was a Radiologic Technologist who retired from health care management. Bill spent the majority of his life in Ohio but moved to Florida in July of 2015 after being a snowbird there for two years prior.

Bill was a member of Indian River City United Methodist Church in Titusville, FL. He was a devoted Christian who loved his Lord and who loved life. He was involved in many activities including being a part of RC clubs in both Ohio (Flying Forks, Lancaster) and Florida (Moonport Modelers Radio Control Club, Titusville) where he built and flew a variety of RC planes. While in Ohio he had been a member of the GWRRA and Rolling Thunder groups as a part of his passion and enthusiasm for motorcycles. A man self-described as one plagued with wanderlust, he loved to travel with his wife and enjoyed RVing throughout the United States including a journey through Canada and throughout Alaska. Those who knew and loved Bill knew his passion for education. He spent time substitute teaching in Ohio and volunteering at the school where his son teaches in Florida, and he was an avid reader who never stopped learning.

Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Nancy Ward Lister; five sons, Christopher Lister (Connie), Scott Lister (Alexandra), Alan Sizemore (Kim), David Hart (Anne), and Darin Hart (Barb); two daughters, Kimberly Lister Comberger and Lisa Lister Comberger; eighteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and his four-legged buddy Porter.

Graveside services with military honors will be conducted at 3pm on Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 Us Highway 1, Mims, Florida, where American Legion Post 1 Honor Guard of Titusville, of which he was a member, will provide the 21 gun salute.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for memorials to be made to the American Legion Post 1 Honor Guard or to Indian River City United Methodist Church Library in Titusville, FL.
