Mrs. Sadie Rae Rentz Kearse, 78, of Ehrhardt, entered into eternal rest Saturday, March 21, 2015 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 am, Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Mount Pleasant Lutheran Church, Mount Pleasant Church Road with Reverend Timothy Bryson and Reverend Rick Mason officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Kearse was born December 12, 1936 in Ehrhardt and was a daughter of the late Clifton Moody Rentz and Susan Rebecca Chassereau Rentz. Sadie Rae and her twin sister, Sudie Mae, were adopted by Lottie Rentz Zeigler shortly after birth. Lottie’s sister, Annie Rentz, married to Reese Clayton, had a big part in her life and her two adopted children’s lives as well.
Mrs. Kearse graduated from Ehrhardt High School in 1954. She was an active member of Mount Pleasant Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher for 30 years, sang in the choir, and was the first woman to serve on the church council. She was a Community Leader for Andrew Jackson Academy and was also a PTA President. Mrs. Kearse was a seamstress, enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and cooking for her family and friends. She helped with floral arranging for Mrs. Beverly Hiers, assisted with catering jobs with Mrs. Judy Bazzle, worked at Ehrhardt Town Hall and also at Ehrhardt Dry Cleaners.
Surviving are: her husband of 60 years, Gordon Benjamin Kearse of Ehrhardt; children, Gordon Henry Kearse and his wife Karen Crosby Kearse of Ehrhardt and Susan Rebecca Kearse Clayton and her husband James Marion Clayton of Dallas, Georgia; brother, Heber Clifton Rentz of Branchville; brother-in-law, Emanuel Julius “Jimmie” Bairfoot of Ehrhardt; niece, Pamela Bairfoot Parker of Dallas, Georgia; and nephew, George Washington Bairfoot of Hampton. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Sudie Mae Rentz Bairfoot, and her brothers, Kenneth Rentz, Leonard Rentz, and Herman Rentz.
