Ruth Anne Lyons Varn

Mrs. Ruth Anne Lyons Varn, known by many as "Ruby", age 44, of Walterboro, entered into rest Friday morning, November 10, 2017, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon, November 12, 2017, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  The Reverend Ralph Warren and The Reverend Rodney Lyons officiating.  Interment will follow on the family plot at Live Oak Cemetery, South Jefferies Boulevard, Walterboro.  

Born August 11, 1973, in Walterboro, she was the daughter of Edward Lyons, Sr. and Gloria Jean Blocker Lyons.  She retired from the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles in Walterboro.  She was a lifelong member of Edgewood Baptist Church in Walterboro where, in earlier years of her membership, she was instrumental in the formation of the church’s “Girl’s in Action” group.   Among her many pastimes, was her joy for scrapbooking and shopping.  She was her husband’s greatest fan in his avid love for drag racing and she was always present to support him and his team.  Ruth Anne had the biggest heart which was filled with love not only for her family but for all she encountered. 

Surviving in addition to her parents, Edward and Gloria Jean of Walterboro are: her husband, Rodney Michael Varn; two children, Michael Shane Varn and Taylor Jean Varn both of the home; a brother, Edgar Lyons of Walterboro; and her beloved K9 companion, “Nala”.  There are two aunts, Linda Danford and her husband Mike and Nancy Jarvis and her husband David; her father and mother-in-law, Grady Varn, Sr. and Shirley Ann Varn of Walterboro; a brother-in-law, Matt Varn and his wife Tammy; and a sister-in-law, Stacey Williams and her husband Joey; as well as a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews and other family members.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Lyons, Jr.
