EO1 Paul Louis Harbert, United States Navy (Ret.), age 85, of Cottageville, entered into rest Friday morning, May 6, 2016, at the Veteran’s Victory House in Walterboro while under the care of Patriot Hospice.

 

A memorial service will be conducted 6:30pm Tuesday evening, May 10, 2016, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  D.E. Gould officiating.  The family will receive friends following the funeral ceremony.

 

Born May 16, 1930 in Clarksburg, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Okey Jackson Harbert and the late Lena Opal Griffith and was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Virginia Glover Harbert.    He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy retiring after twenty-one years of service as an Equipment Operator First Class.  He served three tours of duty during the Vietnam Era.  He was a member of the American Legion and the Fleet Reserve. 

 

Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Nellie Rourk Harbert and a son, Thomas W. Harbert. 

 

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to: Alzheimer's Association, 225 North Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, Illinois 60601.
