He was a graduate of the University of Florida, and worked for thirty-three years for Southern Bell Telephone Company as a Division Constriction Manager in Jacksonville and Miami.  He retired in 1981 and moved to a lake home in Central Florida for twelve years.  He and his wife, Polly, traveled each summer and visited all forty-eight states and most of Canada.  Two whole summers were spent in Alaska.

In June of 1991, Paul came to Hampton deer hunting, fell in love with the area, and purchased a two hundred forty-one acre farm in Pond Town where he raised deer, turkeys, and pine trees.  Two years later they purchased a beautiful home designed and built by Will Cox and settled down.  Preacher Tommy Kelly and Paul became hunting buddies for over twenty years.

Paul has been a Baptist all of his life and supported all of the churched he attended.  Also, Paul and his wife have supported the Billy Graham Ministry for over twenty-five years.

He and his wife, Polly, formed a group of concerned citizens for the betterment of the people in the area.  The worked on many projects but their number one project was the closing of the Medical Waste Incinerator, which was polluting the air, water and ground in Hampton.  It took two and a half years of their work plus the Lord’s help.
