I am so sorry to hear of Mrs. Barnes' passing. I remember her fondly during my time as a student and later as a teacher at Walterboro High School. I remember thinking, "Mrs. Barnes has forgotten more history than I will ever know." She was truly a lover of young people and of the subjects she taught us. Special prayers for her family, especially Mr. Ollie, during this time of grief. My mother, Linda Wilson, had such affection for you both.

Just last Sunday, July 9, before we had heard of Mrs. Barnes' accident, a classmate from the class of 81,Jessica Fields Williams, and I were reflecting together as educators at a National New Tech Network Conference in St Louis.The theme of this conference was about how we can best improve our public schools by focusing on equity for all our learners and appreciating diversity. As we reflected, we both agreed that Mrs. Barnes had instilled this in us as future leaders when she mentored us as our student council advisor and as our Christian sister.May we continue to love God and love each other and especially all God's children as she modeled and taught us all so well. Sending up prayers of thanksgiving for the fruitful life of this dear servant of the Lord and for the comfort of His Holy Spirit to her family and friends!!!

I will never forget the first time I met her at Edisto Beach years ago. I thought she was so pretty and she spoke to each person in our group. I thought that was so nice of her. She made us all feel special. I remember as she spoke you could have heard a pin drop ----we were so mesmerized by her. She truly was an inspiration and did Gods chosen work!! Love to all.
