Mrs. Lula Mae Smith Ryan, 81, entered into rest Friday, March 23, 2018, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Smoaks. She was the devoted wife of fifty-six years to the late Mr. Glenn Thomas Ryan.
Born April 21, 1936 in Colleton County, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late James H. Smith and the late Sally Mae George Smith. She was a seamstress and worked for nearly forty years at Smoaks Manufacturing. She also worked alongside her late husband for many years at the Recycling Center in Ruffin. She was known for the love she possessed for her family and had an avid love for fishing.
Surviving are: three children, Sandra Jarrell and her husband Richard of Smoaks, Mike Ryan of Smoaks, and Ben Ryan and his wife Kelly of Round O. There are eight grandchildren, Brandy Clark, Katrina Ryan (John), Kayla Miller, Tabitha Ryan (Gus), Tiffany Ryan, Richard “Bopeep” Jarrell, Elizabeth Davidson, and Jeffery Davidson; and six great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Donna Davidson Ryan; and a sister Sybil “Tib” George Ryan.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 o’clock Monday afternoon, March 26, 2018, from the graveside at Little Swamp United Methodist Churchyard, Hunters Chapel Road, Smoaks. Pastor Wayne Varnadoe and The Reverend Dan Stroman officiating.
