Louise Craven McClendon

Mrs. Louise Craven McClendon, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 29, 2017, at the age of 90.  Louise was born December 2, 1926, in Walterboro, SC.  She worked for the Civil Service and bookkeeping for a large clothing manufacturer in Hampton and Ehrhardt until retiring. She loved writing and had detailed journals since 1991 that will be treasured.   She loved her family, the Lord, and loved cooking for everyone.  She was a member of The Church of Christ since 1966.  She dearly loved her church family. 

Louise was preceded in death by her father Oliver Taylor Craven, and her mother Mae Marie Barwick Craven, her sisters Catherine Craven Welch and Vera Mae (J.J.) Craven Esry, a foster brother Clarence Barwick, her husband Radford Franklin McClendon, Sr., her sons Radford McClendon Jr., Donald Wayne McClendon, Randall Oliver McClendon and a sweet great grandson, John Graysen Walker.

Surviving are her loving son and caregiver for many years, Jan Dane McClendon and her “baby girl” Rhonda Louise McClendon Lanier (Jarrod).

She had 10 grandchildren, who loved her dearly, Radford, Franklin (Little Rad) McClendon III  (Lisa), William Ashley McClendon, Amanda Nadine McClendon Fletcher (Kent), Oliva Nicole McClendon May ( Scott), Victoria Allene McClendon Keiffer ( Joshua) and Vanessa Louise McClendon Smoak (Jason), John Furman Walker III, Jarrod Heath Lanier Jr., Jana Taylor McClendon and Travis Kyle McClendon.  She had 12 great grandchildren with one on the way.  Louise touched the lives of many people.  She will be dearly missed. 

Funeral services will be conducted 5 o’clock Thursday afternoon, June 1, 2017, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Churchyard, 7345 Jefferies Highway, Walterboro. 

Flowers will be accepted, or for those that desire, the family has suggested that memorial contributions be directed in her memory to:  Live Oak Street Church of Christ, Post Office Box 2446, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
