Lorene Cook Varnadoe

Mrs. Lorene Cook Varnadoe, age 72, of Azalea Drive, Summerville, entered into her eternal rest Tuesday morning, February 2, 2016 at her residence. She was the widow of the late Mr. Riddick Marshall “Pops” Varnadoe.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 pm, Friday afternoon, February 5, 2016 at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home Chapel, Walterboro.  Interment will follow in Williams Cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service Friday afternoon from 2 pm until the hour of service.

Born December 24, 1943 in Hampton County, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur Cook and Hazel Lane Cook.  She had been employed by Teledyne in Walterboro in their shipping and receiving department.  She was a member of Bacon's Bridge Free Worship Center.  She was a loving mother who was always active in the lives of her children, participating in all of their childhood events.  She enjoyed sewing, reading, and birdwatching.  She was especially talented with arts and crafts as well as floral arrangements.  She especially loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her cat, “Muffin”.

Surviving are: a son, Bobby Varnadoe and his wife Joni of Walterboro; two daughters, Deborah Varnadoe Bishop and her fiancé Tony Stanley of West Ashley and Susan Varnadoe Rumfelt and her husband Mike of Walterboro; brothers, Richard Cook of Columbia and David Cook of Brunson; and two sisters, Mary Louise Drawdy of Hampton and Patsy Langdale of Walterboro.  There are six grandchildren, Samuel K. Bishop, Caleb S. Varnadoe, Asher J. Varnadoe, Zachary J. Varnadoe, Joshua D. McAlhany and Jonathan W. McAlhany; as well as six great grandchildren, Triston Bishop, Josh McAlhany, Paige McAlhany, Kane McAlhany, Levi Varnadoe, and Rhys Varnadoe, whom she had become very attached to, that also survive.
