Lois Allen

Mrs. Lois Folk Allen, 93, of Charleston, a retired secretary for the Charleston Naval Shipyard, died Friday, September 16, 2016 at the Hospice Center of Charleston in Mount Pleasant.  She was the widow of Harry Lee Allen.

The funeral service will be held 2 pm, Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Ehrhardt-Bamberg Chapel, with Dr. Albert Allen officiating.  Interment will follow in the Ehrhardt Cemetery.

Mrs. Allen was born October 30, 1922 in Bamberg County, a daughter of the late Jacob Rizer Folk and Jessie Hiers Folk.  She graduated from Rice Business College in Charleston.  She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.  She was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church.

Surviving are: a son, Earl S. Douglas, Jr. of Acworth, Georgia; two daughters, Patricia Douglas Gaddy of Franklin, North Carolina, and Sharon Allen Strickland and her husband Stacey J. Strickland of Charleston, South Carolina; and a grandson, Michael Allen Strickland of Charleston, South Carolina.
