Mr. John B. Greene, 82, of Ruffin, passed away Monday, July 27, 2015 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 am, Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Doctor’s Creek Baptist Church, 126 Doctor’s Creek Road, Walterboro. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Greene was born October 25, 1932 in Newport, Tennessee and was a son of the late Eulas Greene and Alice Moore Greene. He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Marine Corps. During his time in the Marines, he graduated as a Drill Sergeant and served in the Military Police. He was the founder of Greene Heating and Air. He was a member of Doctor’s Creek Baptist Church. He was a hard worker, who enjoyed fishing, loved his animals, and loved working in his garden.
Surviving are: his wife of 59 years, Mildred Crosby Greene of Ruffin; daughters, Janet Laney and her husband Jeff of Ruffin, and Stephanie Bunton and her husband Johnny of Ruffin; grandchildren, Jared Phillips and his wife April, Tanner Bunton and his wife Katie, and Tyler Bunton; great grandchildren, Luke Bunton, Blake Bunton and Sophia Phillips; sisters, Betty Watkins of Jefferson City, Tennessee, Brenda Vines of Indian Head, Maryland, Cheryl Valentine of Newport, Tennessee, Linda Lewis of Newport, Tennessee, Paulette LaFluer of Knoxville, Tennessee, Darlene House of Smyrna, Tennessee and Bridgett Henry of Newport, Tennessee; and brothers, Ronald Greene of Newport, Tennessee, RC Greene of Cosby, Tennessee, and Gerald Black of Newport, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Mayme McGaha Greene; sisters, Helen Couzins, Penny Ann Greene, and Patricia Moore; and brothers, Bill Greene, Walter Ellison, and Donnie Greene.
