Mr. James (Jim) Richard Grooms, age 74, passed away Wednesday, September 20,2017 in Cartersville, Georgia.
Mr. Grooms was born January 1,1943 in Biloxi, Mississippi of the late Roy F. and Sophie Grooms. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, L’roy and Chuck Grooms; and a step-brother, Robert Yancey.
Jim was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cartersville, where he taught Sunday School many for years. Jim was loved and will be missed by his family and friends.
Jim is survived by his lovely wife of forty-six years, Kathryn (Dawn) Hogan. Also one son, Jason Hogan Grooms of Sandy Springs, Georgia; sister-in-law, Joyce Grooms; and step-brother, Eddie Yancey of Adairsville, Georgia.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday afternoon, September 23, 2017 at the Cartersville First Baptist Church at 1:00pm with Drew Startup officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 11:00am.
Pallbearers will be: Josh Brock, Bryan Moore, Randall Smith, Ron Argo, Jim Ballew, and Darrell Roberts.
Graveside service will be Sunday afternoon, September 24, 2017 at 4:00pm at Live Oak Cemetery, South Jefferies Boulevard, Walterboro, South Carolina.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Orphan Aid, Liberia, Post Office Box 2434, Cartersville, Georgia, 30120.
