Mr. Jason Randall Dempsey, 44, entered into eternal rest Friday, January 22, 2016.

Funeral services will be 2 pm, Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Sand Hill Baptist Church, 15480 Pocotaligo Road, Varnville.

Born August 29, 1971 in Hampton, he was a son of Willie James Dempsey and Sandra Stanley Miklaszewski.  He was a Storm Water Technician with Beaufort County and previously worked in Forestry Procurement and Land Management. He graduated from Wade Hampton High School, where he was a member of the band; and then graduated from Lake City Community College with a degree in Forestry.

Jason was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting, fishing and horses, and also enjoyed NASCAR.  He was a wonderful musician and artist and performed at many activities for the Hampton County Arts Council.  Most of all, Jason loved his family.  He loved spending time with his family and friends and cooking for them.  He was loved and respected by many and will be missed by all who knew him.

Surviving are: his wife, Sonya Mixson Dempsey; parents, Willie and Kathy Dempsey of Early Branch and Sandra and Etienne Miklaszewski of Varnville; children, Jacob Randall Dempsey of Nixville and his fiancé, Paige Rosier of Brunson, Jillian Velazquez and Jarrett Velazquez; brothers, Jeremy Michael Dempsey and his wife Tanya of Varnville, Donald Skinner, Jr. and his wife Brooke of Charleston and William Nicholas Skinner and his wife Cecile of Atlanta, GA; sister, Carrie Miklaszewski of Mount Pleasant; nieces, Lorelei Skinner of Atlanta, Blakely Skinner of Atlanta, Maddie Carter of Texas, Abigail Carter of Texas; Katelyn Cannon of Mount Pleasant and Haley Bowick of Mount Pleasant; and nephews, Jeremy Austin Dempsey of Beaufort, William Gage Dempsey of Varnville, Thaddeus Cain Dempsey of Varnville, Little Donnie Skinner of Charleston, Dylan Hayden of Lilburn, GA, and Brandon Hayden of Lilburn, GA.  He was preceded in death by a niece, Megan Bunn; and his best friend, Brad Thompson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Hampton County Arts Council.
