Mr. James Vernon Cleveland Sease, Sr., 80, of Ehrhardt, entered into eternal rest Monday, March 26, 2018 at The Medical University of South Carolina.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock, Friday afternoon, March 30, 2018 in Hampton First Baptist Church, 305 Oak Street East, Hampton. Interment will follow in Ehrhardt Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Church Road, Ehrhardt.
Born July 3, 1937 in Ehrhardt, he was a son of the late Arthur Vernon Sease and Sally Watts Sease Kinard. He served his country proudly in the South Carolina Army National Guard, and then in the United States Army from 1957-1960. Mr. Sease was a long-standing member of Ehrhardt Baptist Church, where he served as Chairman of Deacon for numerous terms and was a member of many different committees in the church. He moved his membership to Hampton First Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon as well.
Mr. Sease was a cattle farmer for most of his life. He was Past Chairman of the South Carolina Beef Board and was also a member of the South Carolina Cattleman’s Association. He was a proud supporter of Clemson University and was a member of the IPTAY Club for 50 years. He also served on the search committee for the Dean of Agriculture at Clemson.
Surviving are: his wife of 56 years, Sandra Mixon Sease of Ehrhardt; children, Sheri Sease Smith and her husband, Henry L.P. “Laddie” Smith of Meggett, James Vernon Sease and his wife Sherri of Ehrhardt, and Patricia Sease Brownlee and her husband Matt of St. George; grandchildren, Maggie Seigler, Cody Seigler, Jared Seigler, James Vernon “Jake” Sease, III, Alexis Sease, Zach Brownlee and his wife Caitlin, Justin Brownlee and his wife Maggie, and Morgan Brownlee; sisters-in-law, Yvonne Sease of Ehrhardt and Lynda Dyches of Hampton; brother-in-law, Orrie Varn of Bluffton; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Sease.
