Helen Williams Hughes

February 6, 1939 ~ August 31, 2015 (age 76) 76 Years Old

Mrs. Helen Williams Hughes, age 76, of Pinewood Street in the Forest Hills Subdivision of Walterboro, entered into rest Monday afternoon, August 31, 2015, at the Pruitt Health Care Center on Witsell Street in Walterboro.  She was the wife of the late Mr. Robert Jacob Hughes. 

 

A memorial service will be conducted 1 o’clock Thursday afternoon, September 3, 2015, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  The Reverend Gerald Mabry officiating.

 

The family will receive friends following the funeral ceremony in the Parlor of the Mortuary.

 

Born February 6, 1939, a native of Georgetown County, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late James Moody Williams and the late Mamie Edith Martin Williams.  She was a graduate of Palmar College and was a retired accountant.  Helen was an accomplish artist, having stroked many beautiful and treasured oil paintings.  She was also an avid fisherman and was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church.

 

Surviving are: a son, Tony Watson Hughes and his wife Susan of Irmo; a daughter, Elizabeth Hughes Craven of Walterboro; a brother, Horace Williams; and a sister, Elise Nations.   There are two grandchildren, Carolina Analese Hughes and Clement Jacob Craven.
