Harold Edward Fletcher

January 29, 1934 ~ November 8, 2017 (age 83) 83 Years Old


Petty Officer First Class Harold Edward Fletcher, United States Navy (Ret.), age 83, of Walterboro, entered into rest Wednesday evening, November 8, 2017, at the Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. 

 

Funeral services will be conducted 11 o’clock Saturday morning, November 11, 2017, from Victory Baptist Church, 161 Maple Ridge Road, Walterboro.  The Reverend Jerome Hodge officiating.  Interment with Full Military Honors will follow in Live Oak Cemetery, South Jefferies Boulevard, Walterboro.   The family will receive friends during visitation prior to the funeral ceremony Saturday morning beginning at 10’clock in the church sanctuary.

 

Born January 29, 1934, in Walterboro, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Desmond W. Fletcher and the late Florie Mae Headden Fletcher.  Petty Officer First Class Fletcher served in the South Carolina National Guard and retired from the United States Navy following twenty-one years of faithful service.  His time in service was during the Vietnam Era as well as the Korean Conflict.   He was also a retired Boiler Technician from Dayco Corporation in Walterboro. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church, was a former member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and the Moose Lodge, and was a member of the Unity Masonic Lodge, No. 55 – Ancient Free Masons.  He was a well known member of the Retired Military Breakfast Club. 

 

Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Carolyn Johnston Fletcher, his daughter, Catherine “Cooki” Henderson of Greenville, Shawnee Bennett of Walterboro, Holly Fletcher of Georgetown, and Paige Bryan of Walterboro; step daughters, DiAnn Bell of Aiken, Sherri Quattlebaum of Greenville, Susan O’Bryan of Aiken, Vicki Todd of Walterboro, and Kristie Corbett of Aiken; two brothers, Calvin Fletcher and Joe Fletcher both of Walterboro; and two sisters, Judy Groves and Mary Pellum both of Walterboro.  There are six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; twenty step-grandchildren; and numerous step-great grandchildren that also survive.
