Ethel Evans Craven

Mrs. Ethel Evans Craven, 81, of Walterboro, entered into rest Friday evening, October 14, 2016 surrounded by her loving family at her residence while under the care of Hospice of Charleston. She was the widow of the late Silas Chalmes Craven, Sr.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 o’clock Monday afternoon, October 17, 2016, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  Interment will follow in the Bedon Baptist Church Cemetery, 2410 Cottageville Highway, Walterboro.

Born August 23, 1935 in Colleton County, she was a daughter of the late Carlos Evans and Lizzie Driggers Evans.  She was a member of North Walterboro Baptist Church where she was a member of the church choir and attended the Women’s Missionary Union.  She will always be remembered for her love of her family and her love of baking.

Surviving are:  her children, Silas “Bubba” Craven, Jr. and his wife Ren’a of Walterboro, Claudia Kay Colson and her husband Allen of Walterboro, Joyce Trammell and her husband John of Athens, Georgia, Marlene Kinard and her husband Stephen of Bluffton, and Janice Bennett and her husband Paul of Walterboro; sister, Sallie Mae Craven of Walterboro; 9 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by sisters, Effie Fraser, Inez Craven, Essie Fraser, and Nancy Evans; brother, Carlos Evans, Jr.; and 1 grandchild.
