Mrs. Catherine Butler Peters, 89, entered into rest Thursday, April 9, 2015, at Pruitt Health in Walterboro, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was the widow of Laurie “Pete” Peters.
Graveside funeral services will be held 2 pm, Sunday, April 12, 2015 at Live Oak Cemetery.
Born on November 23, 1925 in Winchester, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Creed Butler and Laura Baylis Butler. She retired from Ivanhoe Dress Shop, where she had worked for over 25 years. Her sense of humor, her love for life and her unending smile will be remembered by all who knew her. “Grandma Cat”, as she was affectionately known, always centered her life around not only her family but those that she loved. A true southern lady, she mastered the art of southern cooking; enjoyed each Sunday dinner prepared with love for her family and friends.
Surviving are: her sons, Gary Peters and his wife Vicky of Lodge and Robbie Peters and his wife Darlene of Walterboro; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Broach Peters of Walterboro; brothers, Jimmy Butler of Varnville and C.T. Butler of Islandton; sisters, Marie Butler Todd of Garden City, Georgia, Julie Butler Mills of Florida, and Donna Butler Sineath of Islandton; 10 grandchildren, Laura McMillan, Taylor Peters, Sarah Peters, Faith Peters, Rebecca Moody, Heather Pickering, Joshua Peters, Samuel Peters, Ashley Peters, and Shelby Peters; 13 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many that she loved and cared for as her own. She was preceded in death by a son, Randy Peters; and a brother, Roscoe Butler.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to: The Randy Peters Memorial Scholarship Fund, Walterboro Elks Lodge 1988, Post Office Box 202, Walterboro, SC 29488.
