Ms. Barnes was born April 23, 1951 in Orangeburg and was a daughter of Doris Zeigler Shirah and the late Russell W. Barnes.  She retired from the Bosch Company, where she worked for over 25 years.  She was a hard-working, loving daughter, mother, and friend.  She was fiercely loyal to those she loved and extremely generous. She was passionate about serving those in the recovery community and dedicated decades of her life advocating and empowering those struggling with addictions - including herself. Her non-judgmental positive regard for all was one of her many shining qualities. She was a beautiful, free -spirited and a selfless soul. She loved flowers and had a green thumb. She made everything grow and bloom. She love good music and loved to dance. One of her favorite quotes was "difficult times require furious dancing".  Our beautiful beloved mother simply loved.

Surviving are: her mother, Doris Z. Shirah of Walterboro; children, Monica Rochelle Linder of Johns Island, Mysteri Deigh Linder (George) of Pinehurst, NC, Brandon Wynn Linder (Karla) of Buckhead, Lesley Amanda “Mandy” Polk (Tom) of Islandton, and Walter Barnes Parker West (Whitney) of James Island; grandchildren, Joshua Wynn Linder, Godwin Garrett-Linder, Violet Linder-Rivera, Walter Burkhart Barnes West, and Rachel Fisher; sister, Diane Crosby Medlin of Smoaks; one she loved as a brother, Ross Catterton of Walterboro; and her three beloved dogs, Gus, Rudy and Teddy.  She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kayla Polk.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her memory to continue to support healing and recovery in our community, to The Well at Jones Swamp, Post Office Box 1891, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
